Detailed requirements for special firefighting gloves

 

  • Abrasion resistance – the glove should be tested in accordance with the EN 388 standard. The glove must meet the requirements for at least level 3 effectiveness - 2000 cycles.

 

  • Cut resistance - in accordance with EN 388.        The glove must meet the requirements for at least level 2 effectiveness - index 2.5.

 

  • Tear strength - according to EN 388.                     The glove must meet the requirements for at least performance level 3 - 50N.

 

  • Puncture resistance - in accordance with EN 388. The glove must meet the requirements for at least performance level 3 - 100N.

 

  • Limited flame spread - in accordance with EN 407. The glove must meet the requirements for at least performance level 4 - continued burning time ≤ 2 s and further after glow time ≤ 5s. The outer material of the glove should not drip if the material melts. The seam in the examined area should not come apart 15 seconds after ignition.

 

  • Resistance to contact heat – in accordance with EN 702 at a contact temperature of 250oC.        The threshold time tt is at least 10s.

 

  • Resistance to convective heat – according to EN 367 standard The requirement is at least performance level 3 according to the EN 407 standard (HTI 24 ≤13).

 

  • Resistance to radiant heat – according to EN ISO 6942. The RHTI 24 value should be at least 20 and no single value should be less than 18

 

  • Heat resistance of the lining material - the lining material placed closest to the skin, tested in accordance with ISO 17493 at a minimum temperature of 180oC, should not melt, drip or ignite.

 

  • Dimensional reduction under the influence of heat - according to ISO 17493, at a temperature of 180oC, it should not shrink by more than 5%..

Firefighting gloves belong to Category III High Risk Products - only covers hazards, that may cause very serious consequences, such as death or irreversible damage to health. Our gloves have successfully passed the EU type examination (module B)        and conformity to type based on internal production control and supervised product inspections at random intervals (module C2).

Gloves should meet all general requirements of EN 21420 except the lengths, which are specified in the table below.

Protective gloves for firefighters only applies to protective gloves for firefighters that protect their hands during normal firefighting operations, including search and rescue operations. These gloves are not intended for intentional contact with liquid chemicals, but provide some protection against accidental contact with chemicals.
